Writing Process
Weblogs and websites about travel ... Literary Traveler and JourneyWoman were early web travel publishers. I suspect that Literary Traveler is under new management. Back in the day, when it was published on paper, I scoured Transitions Abroad for budget travel lore. Wrote for them too. Outpost, Outside and Backpacker publish on paper and online. With a few of the ad-heavy publications, I can't help but sink into 'been there, done that, read that' mode. Granta remains fresh, still surprises. The helpful travel site 52PerfectDays provokes this question: Why not 365 perfect days or at least 108? Which brings to mind other e-zones with numbers in the titles. 2Camels, 3PD, Area51, Site59. Online travel webzines and blogs like World Hum, Rolf Potts' Vagabonding, Perceptive Travel, Cultural Survival, GoNomad and Get Lost catch my attention from time to time. I've met or e-chatted with the publishers. I wonder what happened to Motion Sickness magazine? Any other off the beat travel zines we should know about? |
